Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan Supplement
This document is a supplement to the University’s 1992 ADA Transition Plan and focuses on
exterior access routes for buildings and public sidewalks along streets. The goals of this
supplement are as follows:
1) Review regulatory requirements for exterior public access routes.
2) Review ADA improvements for exterior access routes within the past 5 years related to capital
construction or routine maintenance.
3) Develop a planning process for implementation of this plan update.
4) Inventory the exterior access routes that are the responsibility of the University.
5) Develop a priority system for improvements based on accessibility need, public access and academic use.
6) Complete a self-evaluation of these sidewalk and entryway elements with focus on the priority areas.
7) Identify funding and schedule for mitigating any deficiencies discovered during the self-evaluation process.
8) Provide public notice as required by the ADA and to provide an opportunity for public input in the development
of this plan.
