Facilities & Services and the Champaign and Urbana Fire Departments offer training during the Spring 2026 semester that introduces participants to the basic elements of fire extinguisher usage. There is an applied portion of the course, including a simulator demonstration of the proper method of using the device to extinguish a fire. Registration is open to the first 35 U. of I. students and employees. Each attendee will get to extinguish a digitally simulated fire.
Walk-ins will also be considered based on the occupancy of the space.
